What's a compass?

A compass is a tool that shows the cardinal directions which are used while navigating. It consists of a magnetic needle and compass rose (the card with all the direction labels). The compass aligns itself to the north direction using Earth's magnetic field. Magnets have north and south poles. The north pole of a magnet is attracted to the south pole of another magnetic. This property is fundamental to the working of a compass.
